Street Style: SPRING

Right about now I’m hoping you are starting to feel the effects of sunny weather and blossoming flowers? Maybe even some of you are twirling around in the fields of gold? Okay, that’s stretching it but it’s time to dive into the wardrobe, weed out the clutter, pull out the staples, add some fresh newbies and dress accordingly! So what if it’s raining (I’m speaking to my friends and family in Seattle). Rock a colorful umbrella and be glad! It’s Spring!
Now that I’m done preaching, I’ll get to the point and say these are the inspirational looks I’m giving you today. Hopefully you’ll find something in the batch that will give you a little spring in your step! Yes, pun intended.

Print Obsession: Turkish Kilim

I’ve recently been on the hunt for a vintage Turkish Kilim bag and just so happened upon this etsy store that really blew my mind! They mostly stock pillows and I found no bags whatsoever but the prints had me gawking so I did what any obsessed person would do. I saved the images and now, I am sharing them with you! Beautiful, right? Can’t you see these stacked on the most simple of sofas? I just think they are gorgeous. Enjoy!

Graphic

Been really feeling a graphic push as of late which basically means I’m drawn to black and white everything. Prison stripes, ink blot prints, you name it. Kind of strange since it’s now officially Spring and it’s all about color? But if you look at fashion’s history, you’ll see a black and white palette is always fresh this time of year and you can’t go wrong with the strength and simplicity the two colors bring to the table. Wardrobe wise, I want to ground it a bit with a strong goldenrod yellow. Not a bright canary and not a brownish mustard but a deep yellow with a hint of orange. Then I think I can bring a bit of my love for ethnic jewelry into the game with wooden beads and bronze or copper jewelry. For the home, the market place is filled with so many chic options whether it’s a cool throw, a modern zebra print for the wall or graphic plates. It’s a layer I’m slowing adding to our home and a fun experiment. Giving up color? No way. I’m just adding two of the stronger ones into the mix to give it all a little oomph!
